ALEXA RUBIN ABERGEL

Director of Programs and Education
Prior to becoming the Director of SholomLearning, Alexa was Director of Youth, Young Families, and Adult Education at Beth Sholom Synagogue. As an experienced Jewish educator, Alexa has touched the lives of hundreds of children. Alexa holds degree in Religious Studies, where she specialized in Hebrew Liturgy and Jewish History, as well as a degree in Education, where she specialized at the Primary and Junior level (JK-Grade 6). Alexa is experienced in teaching children with diverse needs, including ADHD and Autism, and she is fluent in English and Hebrew. Alongside Rabbi Aaron Flanzraich, Alexa manages all aspects of the SholomLearning curriculum, and takes a special interest in working alongside parents and students to achieve individual learning goals. Alexa also enjoys teaching and leading discussion with adults and seniors at the synagogue. Alexa is happily married to her husband, Stanley, and she loves spending free time with her puppy, Charlie.
Programs & Education Assistant
Fargana is an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher who specializes in Early Childhood Hebrew learning. She holds a BA in Hebrew and Jewish Literature. Fargana has five years of teaching experience in Jewish schools and within several community education centers. Fargana is skilled in program planning, curriculum development, implementation and documentation. Fargana has also assisted Alexa with our camps and youth programs which have engaged many more children in Jewish activities and synagogue life. She speaks several languages such as English, Hebrew, Russian, Turkish and Azerbaijani. Fargana is newly married and enjoys travelling to different places and exploring cultures, nature, habitats and religions.

Hebrew and Judaics Teacher
Alana is a veteran teacher with Beth Sholom, who has been teaching Hebrew and Jewish studies with us continuously since 2012. Alana is known for her creative approach to education and her artistic flair. She loves creating keepsakes with the students, that serve as reminders of their positive experiences at SholomLearning. Alana received her Languages degree from McGill, with a specialization in Hebrew language. Alana is a competent educator who makes learning fun. Also a regular at Shabbat Do ‘N Learn is her adorable daughter, Lilly.
Hebrew Teacher & Youth Assistant
Rachel is returning to Beth Sholom for the 2018-2019 school year having acquired experience last year teaching in Hebrew Connections, as well as being a popular counselor in our Camp Beth Sholom program. Rachel is a familiar face from our frequent youth programs and special events at the synagogue. Rachel is another teacher with a love for art and music, and she has a special knack for teaching Jewish culture in an immersive way. Rachel is wonderful with one-on-one learning as well as classroom teaching, and she takes priding in meeting students’ individual needs. Rachel is a current student at York University, and her strong Hebrew skills come from 12 years of Jewish Day School.
